Foreign Affairs Department of CUC is responsible for the enrollment, student status management and living management of foreign students.

I. Prospective Students

 


    Communication University of China (CUC), an affiliate of the State Ministry of Education, is one of the national-level major universities in China that enjoys high prestige. Intensely engaged in a broad-spectrum of higher learning in the education of talents for the mass media of radio and television broadcasting, filmmaking, Internet communications and publications in China alongside its advanced in-depth scientific researches in the related fields. CUC ranks among the highest of educational institutions on communications in the country.
    Founded in March 1954, CUC has emerged from an initial specific academy into a comprehensive institution of higher learning with two major academic disciplines: liberal art and science. Distinctive in feature and unique in advantage in its coordinated development has been an affiliated combination of its courses including literature, science, engineering, economy, management, arts, law and pedagogy in its curricula, making CUC unparallel among all the institutions of higher learning in China.
    Communication University of China (CUC) now consists of 12 colleges: College of Television and Journalism, International Communications College, Advertising College, College of Film and Television Art, College for Cartoon-Making, College for Televised Broadcasting and Presentation, Information Engineering (IE) College, College of Science, College of Computer and Software Technologies, Media Management College, College of Literature, College of Social Sciences, and College of Distance Education and Continuing Education. Within the colleges are a total of 37 departments with 71 majors, about 20 majors among which offer post graduate studies for master or doctor degrees. The total number of students presently in CUC is 25,400 of which 11,000 are full-time undergraduates for bachelor or youth-level degrees; 1,400 are graduates studying for master or doctor degrees; 9,000 are correspondent and evening students and 4,000 are online students.
    CUC is vigorously promoting international academic exchanges and has established linkages with over 100 universities, research institutions and broadcasting or television organizations in about 40 countries and areas including the United States, Japan, Korea, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Singapore and Russia. Attaining a full membership in CILECT (the International Association for Film and Television Schools), CUC enjoys increasing world fame through holding various international academic seminars and conferences regularly for the purpose of enhancing exchanges with colleagues abroad. CUC has developed different forms of education for international students. It now has over overseas 300 students from more than 10 counties and areas in the world.

III. Application Procedures

 

1. Applicants for Chinese language study should firstly complete the Communication University of China Application Form for Foreign Students and the Warranty, then send them to Foreign Affairs Department of Communication University of China by fax or mail before the deadline of registration.

2. Applicants for department-admitted advanced study should complete the Communication University of China Application Form for Foreign Students and the Warranty and provide the copy paper of certificate of completion of senior high school studies, transcript and the examination certificate of Chinese Language HSK grade 6 (We will check the original and keep the copy).

3. Applicants for undergraduate study should complete the Communication University of China Application Form for Foreign Students and the Warranty and provide the copy paper of certificate of completion of senior high school studies, transcript and the English version that has been notarized and the examination certificate of Chinese Language HSK grade 6 (We will check the original and keep the copy).

4. Applicants for master’s degree should complete the Communication University of China Application Form for Foreign Students and the Warranty and provide the copy paper of Bachelor’s diploma, transcript and the English version that has been notarized, at least two recommendation letters (the original) issued by associate professors or above and the examination certificate of Chinese Language HSK grade 8 (We will check the original and keep the copy).

5. Applicants for doctorate degree should complete the Communication University of China Application Form for Foreign Students and the Warranty and provide the copy paper of master’s degree diploma, transcript and the English version that has been notarized, at least two recommendation letters (the original) issued by associate professors or above and the examination certificate of Chinese Language HSK grade 8 (We will check the original and keep the copy).

6. Applicants for Chinese language study, department-admitted advanced study,  undergraduate study,  master’s degree study, doctorate degree study should pay the registration fee:     400 RMB per person.

7. The students who study in CUC must arrange accidental insurance and medical insurance

8. The Foreign Affairs Department shall respond in 30 days after receiving the application.

IV. Deadline for Application

 

1. Application for Chinese study: June 30 for each autumn term (September) and December 31 for each spring term (March).

2. Application for department-admitted advanced study: June 30.

3. Application for undergraduate study: June 30.

4. Application for master’s degree: December 31.

5. Applicants for doctorate degree: December 31.

 

 

V. Entrance Examination

 

 

Applicants for degree study must participate in the entrance examination that is stipulated by CUC. Foreign Affairs Department or the related department will issue a separate notice on examination time and pattern.

 

 

 

VI. Short Term Study for Foreigners

 

 

1. The minimum members of each short-term study group will be 15.

2. Application should be submitted two month in advance to the Foreign Affairs Department of Communication University of China.

3. Pay the registration fee 200 RMB per person.

 

 

VII. Tuition Fee

 

 

1. Chinese Language Student:  8,300 RMB per half academic year15,800 RMB per academic year

2. Department -admitted Advanced Student: 18,300 RMB per academic year

3. Undergraduate: 23,200 RMB per academic year

4. Candidate for Master’s degree: 26,600 RMB per academic year

5. Candidate for Doctorate degree: 29,800 RMB per academic year

6. Short Term Study: 1,200 RMB per person for the first week; then RMB 400 per person for every week after that.

 

 

 

 

VIII. Foreign Students’ Apartment

 

 

1. Standard double bedroom: having toilet, shower, television and 201telephone and air-condition.

Shared by two students: From May 1 to September 30: US$5.5-6.5 per person per day.

From October 1 to April 30 next year: US$5-6 per person per day.

Washing machine is provided for free at each floor.

Foreign students can dine at student dining hall.

2. Extracurricular activities: sport ground, tennis courts, table tennis room and gymnasium are available for foreign students. The Foreign Affairs Department organizes many activities for foreign students each year, such as visiting the Great Wall and other places of interest. Parties are held for foreign students on each New Year’s Day. In addition, CUC students’ sports meetings, art festivals, and football matches are open to foreign students.
